Total Stress Analysis

Each soil type is described by the following set of isotropic parameters: the moist unit weight, the saturated unit weight, the Mohr-Coulomb strength intercept, the Mohr-Coulomb strength angle, and an integer representing the number of the piezometric surface that applies to this soil.

The moist unit -weight and the saturated unit weight are total unit weights, and both are specified to enable Visual Slope to handle zones divided by a water surface. In the case of a soil zone totally above the water surface, the saturated unit weight will not be used. However, some value must be used for input regardless. Any value including zero will do. Similarly for the case where a soil is totally submerged, the moist unit weight will not be used.  Again, some value must be used for input.
