Geogrid Properties

Geogrid properties include five items:

1) Geogrid Name

2) Tal - Long Term Allowable Tensile Strength.   Tal equals the ultimate tensile strength divided by installation reduction factor, creep reduction factor and durability reduction factor, i.e.

Tal=Tult/(RFid * RFcr*RFd)

3) Friction Reduction Factor (FR).  The friction coefficient (F) between soil and geogrid is

F=FR*TAN(f)

Where f is the friction angle of the soil.  The default value of FR is 0.8.

4) Cohesion Reduction Factor (CR).  The cohesion (C') between soil and geogrid is

C'= CR*C

Where C is the cohesion of the soil.  The default value of CR is 0.8.

5)  Front end coverage - defines how much geogrid reinforcement can be mobilized at the front end. The front end coverage varies from 0 to 1 depending on the geogrid front end condition.  If 1 is chosen, the geogrid front end strength equals Tal.
